South African model wards off hijackers

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: South Africans, we are a sturdy breed.

Case in point: When local model and soon-to-be soapie actress Christina Storm faced a gun against her car window at a traffic light in Johannesburg one evening last week, she didn’t faint on the spot - as we’re sure her international counterparts would have done.

She also didn’t pummel him with her designer handbag. Not because she was afraid, you understand, but as a model she has been trained to protect her accessories at all cost.

So what did Christina do? Why, she burned rubber as she sped away in her Audi, squeezing between a vehicle and a motorcycle (putting new meaning to the term narrow escape) and driving through three red traffic lights to evade the would-be hijackers.

It was probably exactly this kind of ballsy display that must have attracted local strip club chain owner, Lolly Jackson, into hiring the brunette to be one of the judges on his oh-so-classy reality television show, Striptease - an Idols type show searching for the top new male and female strippers in South Africa.

Or maybe Lolly just reckoned that, since Christina used to be engaged to former Springbok rugby player James Small, that she has good ball sense. Or something…

Whatever the reason, it was while she was on her way home from taping that very ‘reality’ show, that Christina had her escape.
