Trillanes gets no support from Senate
MOST senators “distanced” themselves from their colleague, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, who called on the people to join him in unseating President Macapagal-Arroyo yesterday.
Sen.Juan Ponce Enrile warned that Trillanes may be facing another rebellion case. “They become recidivists. (He’ll be facing) another rebellion case,” he said.
Senate Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada hoped that the Arroyo government will not link his father, former President Joseph Estrada, to the incident.
“I do not want to comment any further. Baka kami na naman ang mapagbintangan diyan. Wala po kaming kinalaman diyan,” he added.
“While my sympathy will always remain with the soldiers in Manila Peninsula, I was not made part of their plan today so there is nothing much I can say except to pray that the crisis end up peacefully whichever way it is resolved,” Sen. Panfilo Lacson said.
Senators Mar Roxas and Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino IV called for the “observance of the rule of law by all sides; not just Trillanes and Lim, but as well as the military and police.”
Sen. Gregorio Honasan, who was linked in previous attempts to unseat Mrs. Arroyo, said he was surprised by the incident.
Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri said the recent incident will again affect the country’s credit standing.
Local officials expressed support to President Macapagal-Arroyo as they denounced the Makati incident.
Representatives of the League of Municipalities and League of Governors held a press conference in Malacanang reiterating their unwavering support to the Arroyo administration while other groups of local officials and a number of congressmen issued press statements calling for “an end to lawlessness.”
Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza, who was among the Cabinet officials who joined the press conference led by Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye, also made known the expression of support of local executives of Mindanao to the President.

It is understandable that honest men should be dead or in prison in a Republic where the President is a criminal and a thief.
I know that imprisonment will be harder for me than it has ever been for anyone, filled with cowardly threats and hideous cruelty. But I do not fear prison, as I do not fear the fury of the miserable tyrant who took the lives of 70 of my comrades. Condemn me. It does not matter. History will absolve me.
Just like history absolved the writer of the above, history will absolve Antonio Trillanes.
