Britney Spears has climbed to the top of the Irish singles chart with her latest release ‘Piece Of Me’.

The troubled singer knocked X Factor winner Leon Jackson into second place with ‘When You Believe’, while Basshunter’s ‘Now You’re Gone’ shot up to third position.

Timbaland and OneRepublic’s ‘Apologise’ moved down four places to number six, while Leon’s fellow X Factor victor Leona Lewis also dropped four positions and is now at number nine.

Nickelback’s ‘Rockstar’ rose nine positions to number seven, followed by Mundy and Sharon Shannon’s ‘Galway Girl’ at number eight, which had moved up five places.

Meanwhile, Michael Bublé’s Call Me Irresponsible has reclaimed its position at the top of the album chart, followed by Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black at number two and Radiohead’s In Rainbows at number three.
