Emmy Nominations Announced 2008

Can you feel it? It’s award season on the horizon and early this morning, Emmy nominations were announced. All kinds of records are being broken this year, with Mad Men (AMC) and Damages (FX) receiving the first Emmy nominations for a basic cable program ever. And if I remember correctly (and oh yes, I most certainly do), I encouraged all of you to watch both of these awesome dramas. In fact, Mad Men received the most for a drama with 16 noms.

Some of my favorite shows are getting recognized this year. 30 Rock, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm (still?) and Pushing Daisies got nominations, even though the strike has sadly left many shows cut short. 30 Rock got 17 nominations, the most for any comedy this year.

The John Adams HBO historical drama had the most bids out of everybody with 23 nominations. The Emmys love their American history. Dexter got a nomination for best drama series. Hell yeah. The Emmys also love their serial killers.

And as for Sally Field, we really, really, like her still, with her receiving a nomination for lead drama actress for Brothers & Sisters. Also, our girl Heidi Klum got a nomination for hosting Project Runway.

Alles Gute zum Emmy Nomination, Heidi!
