LJ Reyes Going Mature But Not In A Sexy Role

Aside from gracing the cover of a men’s magazine last December wearing only golden wings with her hands covering her bosom, LJ Reyes has also gone topless in the catalogue of talents under contract with GMA Artist Center, where she belongs.
“It’s not for public display,” she pointed out. “I was topless [in the photo] pero no’ng ginawa namin ‘yon [pictorial], I had bra on and I had long hair at that time. Mukha s’yang topless pero hindi naman..”
LJ added: “Physically I’m just showing everyone that I’m a more mature LJ now. Not that I’m going for sexy roles or anything like that. I want to get more mature, not sexy roles.”
The 22-year-old actress-host told Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online that she’s proving her point via her latest project, “Ina, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita?” that will debut on the tube on Jan. 25.
“Because the character is a little hard to play,” explained LJ, who is Katrina on GMA-7’s newest afternoon soap. “At first it’s a very good character and then after some, when something happens, I’ll turn against Jennica [Garcia as protagonist Rizzi].”
LJ revealed that she and Jennica are very good friends who are having a great time working together since their first taping day.
“Nakakatawa lang kasi in real life sobrang kulit namin tapos ito serious drama so parang hindi kami masyadong naglilikot sa set,” she laughed.
LJ also considered her hosting job on “StarStruck,” where she began her career in 2005 as a contestant and then eventually as the reality talent search’s first runner-up, as a venue to showcase her growth as a performer and a person.
“You have to be spontaneous, smart, and experienced to host very well,” she maintained.
LJ found most of the “StarStruck V” aspirants, nice. “Medyo ang problema ko lang sa kanila, masyado silang kampante compared to previous batches. Mas hindi sila scared.”
But if her mother network gives her the free hand in choosing an ideal project for her, LJ said she’ll go for the TV adaptation of the 1980 movie “Angela Markado” directed by Lino Brocka and starring Hilda Koronel because it’s very challenging.
As for her love life, LJ insisted that she goes out with a group of people and not with a steady date, who, rumor has it, happens to be her “Ina, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita?” co-star, Paulo Avelino
